bah... [15 Jul 2009|10:01pm]
so on the first hand of a 9-player hold 'em tourney, I bet with KT suited. Another guy re-raises, and a few other call including myself. Flop comes AQJ, giving me the nut straight. I bet, same guy re-raises, everyone else folds, I go all in with the remaining 30 chips (of 1000). He calls with AJ (two pair). Turn and river are KT, so there's a straight on the board and we split. I call lame sauce, but he claims he had the higher pair. I tell him I'd flopped the straight, refraining from adding 'dickwad'.

Later a guy goes all in (AK) and I re-raise all in with QQ, but another guy calls with AA. I catch a Q on the turn, but AK guy sucks out with a straight on the river. Bleh.

Nearly all my professors are Democrats. Isn't that a problem? [14 Jul 2009|06:11pm]

"In fact, I'm not a conservative, nor a Republican. I simply believe in the concept of diversity – a primarily liberal idea – and think that we suffer when we don't include ideas we find unappealing."

I did once have a professor who was openly anti-conservative in class. Ticked me off.

Thanks Mark for the find!

Epic Fail to Flawless Victory - all in a day's work [13 Jul 2009|04:43pm]
The other night I had a dream about Romeo x Juliet: Juliet had butterfly-like wings and could fly and was pwning Romeo in epic battle. Romeo knew it couldn't work between them, so he was going to break up with her, but Juliet sensed this, so she turned into a fish, surfaced, and air-drowned.

Then there was a hotel with really bad service, but I decided it was OK because everyone was having a massive orgy.

Then came something out of Silent Hill: Homecoming, which I've never played but have read the wiki entry.

Friday night I went to the O's game for free, courtesy of [info]visible_bruises (Thanks again!). Met up with Grant and his friend Zen(sp?) there. The O's lost, but there were fireworks afterwards! Hooray. Spent the night at Grant's.

So here's where the epic fail happens: Saturday morning, ~10:30. I was parked on S. Ann facing south towards Aliceanna, right in the center of the map there. I pull out and jizz all over Ann and Aliceanna turn right onto Aliceanna to exit the city and get to work by 11. Didn't happen. I stupidly jumped the curb at the corner with my right rear wheel, causing an awful exploding sound and the outdoor knitting club to turn and stare. I pull into some space on the corner, and examine the MASSIVE DAMAGE. No, it's just irreparably flat. I call work to tell them I'll be late, and AAA to get them to come help. They say it could be over an hour until they arrive. I get the temporary spare and tools out of the trunk, and have just finished jacking off up the passenger rear of the car when the AAA guy thankfully arrives (with power tools!). He gets the spare on in no time and at no charge, and points me in the direction of Eastpoint mall, where there's a Sears. I find the place okay, but Sears doesn't have the same tire. The guy recommends a tire with similar treads, which I get for ~$110. Their mechanics are quite busy however, so he points me in the direction of a Pep Boys for installation. I don't make it to the Pep Boys because on the way I see a Ford dealership and figure I should go there instead (I'm driving the Mustang). So Chuck at Norris Ford roundhouse kicks everything into good working order instantly gets the new tire mounted on the rim and on the car and puts the spare and tools back in the trunk, while I wait an hour or so. I pay ~$20 for the installation, but they don't even wash the car! (Apple Ford in Columbia gives complimentary washes with service.) I head out, forgetting to ask for directions. Disoriented in Dundalk! I eventually find the Beltway and get to the mall around 1:30, down $130 plus another $25 in lost wages. Weepin'. The guy who replaces me at 4 is caught in bad traffic and is 45 minutes late, so I get $7.50 back (5% off! whoo).[/end fail]

Grant and Zen came over for dinner (BBQ at my place), and when Zia arrived we headed out to Merriweather Post for Bugs Bunny on Broadway performed by the BSO. Good times. Wagner, Strauss, Rossini; good stuff. I had an extra ticket because people were out of town, had other plans, OR WOULDN'T RESPOND TO MY MESSAGES.

Ended Saturday with a Flawless Victory (news source linked in pic).

Today I had infused my sweet, sweet Remicade. mm mmm, Remicade.
